What is a Labor Doula?
A Labor Doula is a woman who mothers the mother through pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period. Studies have revealed that support in labor has profound benefits including shorter labor, less desire for pain medication, lower rate of Caesarian delivery, and more ease in initiation of breast feeding. Fathers reported that they were more relaxed with a Doula present, because they felt reassured and therefore freer to support their mates.
Labor Doulas do NOT diagnose medical conditions in the mother or the baby but will refer you to a health care provider when appropriate. I am not a lactation consultant but have breastfed my own child and have further breastfeeding education and experience. I will refer you to a lactation consultant as appropriate.
I would love to talk on the phone or meet for an interview to see if
we are a good fit. It is important to choose a doula you and your partner
both feel comfortable with. In order to retain my services, you will
need to review and sign a Labor Doula Contract.

Sibling Doula
Would you like to offer your child(ren) an opportunity to be with
you during labor and the birth of the newest member of your family?
As a Sibling Doula I can ease the concerns of the child(ren), keep
them occupied while you in labor and explain to them what is happening
with mom as the baby is being born. I will meet with you and your
child(ren) once a month starting at 25 weeks for one-to-two hour session
to prepare them for the birth. I would then be on-call the same as
a Labor Doula and attend the birth with your child. I understand some
children might be uncomfortable or need a break when labor is running
a bit long. I will stay at your home with your child(ren) until you
are ready for them to come to the hospital or take your child(ren)
to the place of your choice when they need a break. The focus of this
service is to provide your child with the opportunity to share in
your birth experience.
The fee for my Sibling Doula Services is $450 ($100 deposit included).
